چکیده

We compute the differential and the total cross sections for pp scattering using the QCD pomeron model proposed by Landshoff and Nachtmann. This model is quite dependent on the experimental electromagnetic form factor, and it is not totally clear why this form factor gives good results even at moderate transferred momentum. We exchange the eletromagnetic form factor by the asymptotic QCD proton form factor determined by Brodsky and Lepage (BL) plus a prescription for its low energy behavior dictated by the existence of a dynamically generated gluon mass. We fit the data with this QCD inspired form factor and a value for the dynamical gluon mass consistent with the ones determined in the literature. Our results also provide a new determination of the proton wave function at the origin, which appears in the BL form factor. PACS number(s): 12.40.Nn, 13.75.Cs, 13.85.Lg

Paul Stoler Physics Department, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY 12180 Abstract It is suggested that the falloff in Q of the P → ∆ magnetic form factor G∗M is related to the recently observed falloff of the elastic electric form factor GEp/GMp. Calculation is carried out in the framework of a two-body GPD mechanism. The P → ∆(1232) form factor G∗M exhibits a more rapid decrease with r...

The Σ− mean squared charge radius has been measured in the space-like Q range 0.035–0.105 GeV/c by elastic scattering of a Σ− beam off atomic electrons. The measurement was performed with the SELEX (E781) spectrometer using the Fermilab hyperon beam at a mean energy of 610 GeV/c. We obtain 〈r2 ch〉Σ− = (0.61 ± 0.12 (stat.) ± 0.09 (syst.)) fm. The proton and π− charge radii were measured as well ...

The scalar-isoscalar, scalar-isotensor and vector-isovector ππ amplitudes have been fitted simultaneously to experimental data and to to Roy’s equations. Resulting ππ phase shifts up to 1600 MeV and near threshold observables have been analyzed. Only the amplitudes fitted to the ”down-flat” set of phase shifts in scalarisoscalar wave fulfill crossing symmetry conditions and can be regarded as p...

We show that, to a very good approximation, the ratio of the spin-flip to the non-flip parts of the elastic proton-nucleus amplitude is the same as for proton-nucleon scattering at very high energy. The result is used to do a realistic calculation of the analyzing power A N for pC scattering in the Coulomb-nuclear interference (CNI) region of momentum transfer.
